At Fleet Feet Sports, Gaithersburg we know it is important
to be involved with the community; afterall, the
surrounding community is what makes us great!

Below we outline the key charities that we support through various events
throughout the year. Thanks to all of your support we are
able to make a difference in our community!

The Coalition for the Homeless is a nonprofit housing development organization that
creates permanent housing for formerly homeless individuals and families.
The goal of Coalition Homes is to help eradicate homelessness in Montgomery County.

Girls on the Run of Montgomery County

GOTR is a transformational physical activity based,
positive youth development program for girls in 3rd - 8th grade.
They are taught life skills through dynamic interactive lessons and running games.

We help provide young girls in the GOTR program with the proper footwear
for their training. Many of the young girls come to GOTR without the means
to get the correct footwear to successfully participate. We want to make
sure each girl is ready and properly equipped to take on their 5K
challenge at the end of their GOTR program.

Avon 2 Day for Breast Cancer

Every year store owners, Chris and Robyn Gault, put together a team
to take to the streets of DC for the Avon 2-Day Walk for Breast Cancer.

The Walk is an event the two of them hold very close to their heart.
Over ten years ago Robyn fought and won her battle against breast cancer;
however, Chris' sister was not so lucky. Each year they walk to remember Chris' sister,
remember Robyn's battle and to help those currently fighting.

As always, they open their team up to the entire Fleet Feet Sports, Gaithersburg
community and would love for you to join their team.

If you have questions about the event/team or wish to join the team,
please email Robyn: robyn@fleetfeetgaithersburg.com

Critters for the Cure

We are proud supporters of this incredible organization that helps provide financial and
emotional assistance for women in the local area fighting breast and other gynecological cancers.

Each summer we host a fun run/walk that includes your furry four-legged friends,
that helps raise funds for this great cause and organization.

Kentlands Community Foundation

For ten years we have been located in the Kentlands community.
Thanks to the incredible support of the surrounding people, businesses and
organizations we have grown and thrived into YOUR local running store.
We are proud to support the Kentlands Community Foundation and their 5K race
each year! The Kentlands Community Foundation supports multiple great causes, including:

The Dolores C. Swoyer Scholarship Fund
Provides children in need with the opportunity to attend summer camps.
The Dwelling Place
A transitional housing option for families in Montgomery County.
Maryland Senior Olympics

Whole Foods Market - Whole Planet Foundation

Each March we partner with our friends at The Whole Foods Market - Kentlands
to put on a fun run and walk charity event for their amazing
Whole Planet Foundation. The Foundation's mission is poverty alleviation
through microcredit in communities around the world that
supply Whole Foods Market stores with products.

The MORE Foundation Group

The MORE Foundation implements an Adopt-A-Family Program which is funded
through the sale of used athletic shoes. We provide a donation bin located
at the front of our store to help in their effort to collect used athletic shoes.
Instead of tossing your last pair of shoes, consider bringing them with you
when you visit us for new shoes and donate them to a great program!

Thanks to all of the Fleet Feet Sports stores around the country participating in this awesome program, we have been able to sponsor a Fleet Feet Sports Village in Africa (pictured above)!!
The MORE Group transforms the sale of used athletic footwear into poverty eradication and agroforestry in many ways:

- Every family sponsored receives 2,000 germinated trees.
- Each pair of shoes produces ten trees in Africa and Honduras.
- Last year and this year, we donated one million tree seeds to agricultural co-ops across Honduras.
- Each pair of used shoes donated translates to one ton of tree carbon pulled down.
- Trees are real assets that generate income for the poor while healing the environment.
- Reforestation using agroforestry serves all levels.
