Every year store owners, Chris and Robyn Gault, put together a team to take to the streets
of DC for the Avon 2-Day Walk for Breast Cancer.
The Walk is an event the two of them hold very close to their heart. Over ten years ago Robyn fought and
won her battle against breast cancer; however, Chris' sister was not so lucky. Each year they walk to
remember Chris' sister, remember Robyn's battle and to help those currently fighting.
As always, they open their team up to the entire Fleet Feet Sports, Gaithersburg community and would love for you to join their team.

Where do I register for the Avon 2-Day Walk for Breast Cancer? Register at www.avonwalk.org. Select JOIN A TEAM. Our team name is: BANKING AND COUNTING ON A CURE WITH FLEET FEET. Password is Fleetfeet
Is there a cost to register? Yes. It varies, but right now it is $50.
How far is the walk? You will walk 26.2 miles on the first day and 13.1 miles on the second day.
How much am I required to fundraise for the team? $1800
Are there training walks with the team? Not officially, but hopefully team members can get together and train and walk together prior to the event.
Is there a training plan? We can share an 8-week training plan with you.
How physically fit should I be now? If you are able to start training now and can currently walk 3 miles you will be ready for the event in May.
Where do we sleep on Saturday night? Most people camp at the campsite, but Chris and Robyn stay at a hotel. There are buses to and from the campsite and the host hotel. They provide tents. You must provide a sleeping bag and pad if you want. They also have shower trucks on site.

When does it start and end?
Opening - May 3, 2014 | Walker Arrival - 5:30-6:30AM | Ceremony Begins - 6:30AM
Closing - May 4, 3014 | Ceremony Begins - 2:30PM
What do I need to bring? The Avon website has a list of items, but you pack it all in a bag and leave it at the opening ceremony and they transport it to the campsite for you. The next morning, they transport to the closing ceremony for you. You basically pack your sleeping equipment, clothes for the night and clothes for the next day, plus your toiletries.
What do I get for joining the team? We will provide two technical moisture wicking shirts for you to wear while you are walking. One for each day. We will need your shirt size.
